Back in November I spent 4 weeks visiting Việt Nam.  At the end I managed to film just a little bit  and asked. My friends in Vietnam for some more footage  to show you the beauty of my dear home country.  Non-stop flights from Germany take 12.5 hours to get to Việt Nam.  I was born and raised in Hà Nội, the capital of Việt Nam.  Hà Nội is romantic in Huu Trinh’s poems.  Nostalgic and loving in Phan Vu’s poems.  And traumatic yet courageous in Luu Quang Vu’s.  It is an endless source of inspiration for contemporary poetry.    Away from the scorching hot summer air and the coldness of winter. Hà Nội in autumn is simply magical.  No matter how long I’ve been away from this city.

The Geography

Việt Nam’s geography is brilliantly diverse.  We have soaring mountains, over 3000km of coastline. Jagged limestone pinnacles towering over dark, tangled jungle  palm-fringed deltas filled with coconut grove.  Fruit orchards,  rice paddies and mangrove swamps.  Desert, waterfalls, unspoilt beaches, rolling hills volcanoes…  We have picturesque and breath-taking landscapes everywhere.  Now we have to learn how to protect it.   And T made me a birthday cake!    I think he wants to make it a tradition 😛  T named this cake “Let It Snow”.  “The candle keeps burning.”  He is always overly self-critical,  and told me beforehand that “it doesn’t look good,  and he messed up the frosting.  “I lighted up the candles, you know?”  “Blow out the candles, mom.”  “Happy Birthday!”
